ORB is a platform on Tezos blockchain for game developers who want to use Web3 technology. It offers project creation, NFT integration, trading and governance features.

ORB’s comprehensive ecosystem includes the ORB3 Platform and Marketplace, the ORB3 API, the UnityORB SDK and the Governance Platform. These elements provide game developers with tools and features to enhance their projects and facilitate their integration with Web3 technology.

ORB3 Platform and Marketplace encourage game developers to create projects, collections and NFTs. It lets players discover, own, trade and sell NFTs within the game.

“The ORB3 platform can host any game that uses Tezos, even if they do not choose to use our SDK,” the company said. “However, for the Web2 game developers looking to venture into Web3, we offer a suite of tools to help them.”

The company’s support begins with Unity, particularly through unityorb.com. It offers two versions of its software development kit (SDK) — a “simple” version and an “advanced” version.

The company added that the mentioned version of the SDK is tailored for developers who may not have much experience with smart contracts and other Web3 functionalities. It helps them to incorporate features into their games. The developers can achieve this by utilizing code snippets from the provided demo.

The company also mentioned that although the mentioned version of the SDK is not intended for production use, it serves as a quick way for developers to test and explore the extensive possibilities offered by Web3 in their projects.

Regarding the “advanced” version of its SDK, which The Six Dragons currently use, the company explained that it is a client/server solution. This version provides enhanced security, scalability and more development options for developers.

Key to governance in Web3 gaming on Tezos

The ORB utility token is at the heart of the ORB platform, functioning as the governing token that powers the Web3 gaming ecosystem. By possessing ORB tokens, users can access various attractive features and advantages.

ORB token holders can vote on important platform decisions, shaping the future of ORB and influencing its progress.

The decentralized governance model of ORB ensures that the community’s opinions are valued. It reinforces the platform’s democratic essence and upholds the integrity of decentralization.

According to the company, developers can infuse NFTs with a desired amount of ORB Tokens, whether created through the front end or runtime using the API. This approach offers several benefits for players, developers and the platform.

Players can burn the NFTs and receive the infused ORB Tokens if a developer discontinues a game or asset. This concept ensures a fair and transparent process for players. The company intends to implement a Governance platform, which is essential for the future of ORB3.

ORB3 platform encourages collaboration, sustainability

Part of the ORB3 Platform’s appeal lies in its capacity for games to work in tandem with other games, artists or profile picture (PFP) projects.

The company said game developers could access their dedicated Development portal on orb3.io to manage their assets and teams. The company’s API also assists developers in making real-time changes.

As an illustration, the company mentioned The Six Dragons. The game showcases the application of real-time blockchain crafting and enchanting, incorporating dynamic stats. This method helps the generation of items with randomized attributes in real time.

Once the item is crafted, an NFT is created, and its metadata is attached to ensure immediate availability.

The company said the metadata accompanying the crafted items includes the player’s name but also the identity of the skilled crafter. This inclusion helps other players to identify and acknowledge the exceptional blacksmith responsible for creating a specific weapon, leading to in-game service requests.

ORB prioritizes environmental sustainability using the Tezos blockchain, which operates on a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. This energy-efficient approach minimizes carbon emissions associated with NFT creation and transactions on the platform.

The company said it intends to establish itself as the top Web3 gaming platform in the industry within the next two years. In pursuing this goal, it is open to exploring various possibilities. It includes potential collaborations and bridges with other platforms or technologies.

Based on its research, the company said that Tezos is the sole Layer 1 solution that aligns with its vision without compromising the core principles of decentralization and Web3. It emphasizes the significance of this aspect in its decision-making process.

Developers’ NFT assets

As mentioned, ORB grants game developers complete authority over their NFT assets. Through the intuitive ORB3 platform, developers can generate and oversee their exclusive NFT collections.

They can personalize and streamline asset management procedures, from auction listings to ownership tracking and metadata association.

The developers can enjoy supplementary functionalities, including a dedicated Game profile. This profile will showcase essential details about their game and serve as a central hub for players to explore information about their NFT collection, recent collaborations, and market updates.

According to the company, games integrating NFTs on Tezos can join the ORB3 Marketplace/Platform. Their objective is to assist Web2 game developers in transitioning to Web3 by offering the essential tools for smooth and seamless integration.

It also said that Unity-based mobile games would receive immediate support since the UnityORB SDK is compatible with all platforms supported by Unity. The company revealed plans to develop SDKs for other major game engines by registering the unrealorb.com domain.

The company added introducing the Publisher’s Fee addresses a prominent concern of major Publishers when considering the acceptance of Web3 games. This solution tackles the challenge they have communicated to us in the past.

The company said that, like other NFT marketplaces that impose royalties as a percentage fee given to the creator or artist upon each sale, they had introduced an extra fee called the Publisher’s Fee.

It explained that developers could impose an optional fee at the time of NFT creation, entitling them to include their publisher’s wallet for future distribution. Like the microtransaction system in Web2, the publisher receives this fee after every sale.

This approach allows publishers to negotiate deals with Web3 games as with Web2 games. Game developers can rest assured that the fee is determined at the creation of the asset and will remain unchanged, as it is embedded in the asset’s smart contract.
