Diablo 4 to feature more Legendary powers on launch despite beta issues

Joseph Piepiora, the associate game director of Diablo 4, disclosed that the game would have more Legendary powers upon release. The game will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on June 6.

In a recent tweet, Piepiora said that the number of Legendary powers available in Diablo 4 upon release would surpass what was seen in the game’s open beta — and some would be “fully balanced.”

He also clarified questions about the Codex of Power, highlighting that it only contains half of the Legendary powers available in the game. Players can discover even more Legendary powers through gameplay.

The beta gave players access to the campaign’s prologue and first act, four different classes to play as, and level up to level 25. Players also had the opportunity to experiment with Legendary powers, which can significantly affect gameplay.

Issues during Diablo 4 beta

While testing Diablo 4 during its closed beta, fans quickly noticed that legendary items were dropping at a very high rate — similar to what players experience in Diablo 3. This issue contradicted what the developers had previously mentioned that legendary items would be more scarce in Diablo 4.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, game director Joe Shely and general manager Rod Fergusson revealed an impressive statistic ers regarding the latest version of the franchise’s endgame. The statistic pertains to the potential for replayability and highlights how much players can expect to experience from this new release.

Shely claims that because the game world is “enormous,” the beta only encompasses “20 percent” of the overworld.

Shely mentioned that there is significant replayability regarding the dungeons, and there are various ways to personalize the End Game. The game allows players to adjust the dungeons to make them more challenging by making changes such as adjusting the monster spawns or adding buffs or debuffs. This will increase the range of endgame activities available to players and add to the overall variety of gameplay.

“There are well over 100 dungeons spread out across the world and we want you to visit all of them! When you start to get into the end game and you get into all those deep systems, we come back and we modify them in really cool and interesting ways,” Shely explained.

During the beta, some high-end Nvidia GPUs were found to have a flaw that could be catastrophic, similar to when Amazon’s MMO New World caused RTX 3090 GPUs to fail.

Users on Reddit and the Blizzard forums reported that their monitors would go black, GPU fans would run at full speed and systems would reboot. Some others also experienced an error code and a GPU failure.

Although the beta has ended, talk and updates about the game are ongoing. As per the latest rumor, a Diablo 4 version for the Xbox Series X may be in the works.

While there are no specifics on the Xbox release, Blizzard and Microsoft have previously worked together. Concerning the game’s reliability, Blizzard has assured players that the connection problems that occurred during the beta won’t be present in the final release of Diablo 4.

Despite facing several issues during its open beta, the enthusiasm among players for Diablo 4 remains unwavering. The game was revealed at Blizzcon 2019, and rumors about development difficulties circulated, causing players to worry.

The cancellation of Blizzcon 2022 only added to these concerns. Given the game’s long journey to its current state, analysts said it is no surprise that Diablo 4 is among the most eagerly anticipated games of 2023 and has the potential to be a hot topic throughout the year.
